Lilly - Day 3

Leah and Lilly are still in the hospital.  A C-section usually requires 4 days.  On Saturday, a professional photographer came by and took some very nice close-ups of Lilly. Auntie Megan bought the DVD.

Welcome, Lilly!

Lillian Mary Skosky (aka Lilly) arrived on Thursday, August 23, at 8:07 AM, CDT at Mercy Hospital. Lilly weighed 8 pounds, 12 ounces and was 20" long.  Both Lilly and Leah are doing fine.

Here is Lilly in the nursery shortly after coming into this world.  She is still being monitored and checked to make sure everything is working properly.  There is only a 90 minute warranty on newborns so you have to check to make sure all the parts are there.

As you can see, Lilly has a tremendous head of dark hair. This certainly takes after the father, Andy, as Leah has no black hair in her family.

After a series of tests the nurses deemed her "good to go", so they wrapped her tightly in a swaddling blanket and put on a cap.  Lilly really liked this since I'm sure it reminded her of the tight confines of the womb.  She immediately relaxed and rested peacefully.

Anticipation

Our daughter Leah and husband Andy await the arrival of their daughter Lilly.  Unless she does a dramatic rotation Lilly will be born by C-section on Thursday, August 23, 2012.  This will be Leah and Andy's first child and also our first grandchild.

Grandma Katie and I are very excited to welcome our first grandchild. We have bought changing pads, diaper kits and a car seat. Things have certainly changed since we raised our kids.  I'm surprised they made it to adulthood. The baby gear and car seats are now mechanical marvels with a zillion bells and whistles.  Our car seat has an expiration date - I don't know what that's all about. And, Lilly's stroller can go off-road while she listens to an iPod.  I expect the next generation strollers will have LCD touchscreens and video game controllers.
